Phenomena Royal Violet Visitation - Paul Jenkins
This huge painting (it’s 14 feet wide and 4 1/2 feet high) was the spark that ignited the bonfire of my passion for abstract painting (and art in general, really). Painted by Jenkins in 1977, it was purchased by a donor in 1978 for the Hunter Museum of Art in Chattanooga, Tennessee. It’s held pride of place there ever since, and it was there that I saw it on an elementary school field trip when I was 11 years old. I couldn’t stop looking at it and it remains one of my favorite paintings to this day. If you enjoy the abstract works that I post here at Ufansius you’ve got Jenkins’ Royal Violet to thank for them.
