The whole left brain/right brain dichotomy is reductive, simplistic, and inadequate, but this graphic is gorgeous.

Wow - this post really brought back memories. I haven’t seen or thought of Mille Bornes in years, but it was a game my family played when we were kids (before I got too cool to play games with my parents). It’s sort of like Uno or Skip-bo but with a road race theme; you get to fuck the other players over a lot by slowing them down with speed limits (limite de vitesse, above), stops, flat tires, accidents, etc. It’s still around; now that we have game nights with our friends I might have to go out and buy a deck. You can read more about it here.

These are RoboBees, tiny flying robots developed at Harvard and weighing just 80 mg. There is currently no power source small enough to power their independent flight (you can see the tiny power cord on the flying one), but once that problem is solved developers hope to use them to monitor the environment and in search and rescue missions. They might also be useful for pollinating crops; that would sure come in handy if the worldwide collapse of bee populations continues or worsens. You can see them in flight here.
